Palkarly (“Palkarly”, “we”, “us”) operates a community matrimonial platform for the Sowrastra Hindu community. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Palkarly, you agree to this Policy.

1. Information we collect

To provide a matchmaking service, we collect information you give us and information generated through use:

  • Account details: name, email address, phone number, and password (stored only as a secure hash).
  • Profile information: date of birth, gender, height and physical details, marital status, education, occupation, location, family details (such as house name and gothram), and horoscope details (rasi, nakshatram, dosham).
  • Photos & documents you upload, including profile photos and any horoscope image.
  • Partner preferences and your activity on the platform (profiles viewed, interests sent, shortlists, and chat messages with matched users).
  • Sign-in with Google: if you choose Google sign-in, Google shares your name, email address, and profile picture with us to create or access your account. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Technical data: device and notification tokens, IP address, and basic usage/diagnostic information needed to operate and secure the service.

2. How we use your information

  • To create your profile and suggest and rank compatible matches (including horoscope/porutham matching).
  • To let other members discover your profile and to enable interests, shortlists, and chat after a match.
  • To verify profiles (our team manually reviews new profiles before they appear in discovery).
  • To send service communications — email verification, profile approval/rejection, and notifications.
  • To maintain security, prevent fraud and misuse, and comply with applicable law.

3. How your information is shared

  • With other members: your profile details and photos are visible to other registered members as part of the matchmaking service. Certain contact details are shown according to the platform’s rules. Please share only what you are comfortable making visible to the community.
  • With service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract: Amazon Web Services (hosting, database, photo storage, and transactional email in the Mumbai region), and our real-time chat and push-notification providers. Google provides authentication if you use Google sign-in.
  • For legal reasons: when required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our members or the platform.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

4. Data storage & security

Your data is stored on Amazon Web Services infrastructure located in India (Mumbai region). We protect data in transit with TLS encryption, store passwords only as secure hashes, restrict administrative access, and keep regular encrypted backups. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard safeguards.

5. Data retention & deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You may deactivate your account at any time (this hides your profile from others), or request deletion of your account and personal data. On deletion we remove or irreversibly anonymise your personal data, except where we must retain limited records to comply with law or resolve disputes.

6. Your rights

You can access and update most of your information directly in the app. You may also request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time.

7. Eligibility & children

Palkarly is intended only for individuals who are of legal marriageable age under Indian law and at least 18 years old. The service is not directed to minors, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

8. Cookies & sessions

We use strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to operate the service. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email.
